How to make it

  1. Step 1: Mix the base

    Mix the base

    Stir cornstarch and water together until it's smooth and runny.

  2. Step 2: Split the colors

    Split the colors

    Pour it into the cups of a muffin tin. Add 3 or 4 drops of food coloring to each.

  3. Step 3: Stir again

    Stir right before painting. The cornstarch sinks fast.

  4. Step 4: Paint the sidewalk

    Paint the sidewalk

    Paint on dry pavement. It goes on bright and dries lighter.

  5. Step 5: Hose it off

    Spray it off with water when you're done.

Edie's tip

Food coloring can stain clothes and light concrete. Old shirts, and test a small spot first.
