DIY Project

Terms of use

The short version: read anything here for free, use it at home, take care with tools, and don't copy our work onto another site. The longer version is below.

Using this site

DIY Project is free to read. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.

These terms were last updated on October 3, 2026. If we change them, we'll change that date.

What our guides are

Our guides, projects, calculators and buying guides are general information. They are written to help you understand a job and decide whether to do it yourself.

They are not professional advice for your specific house. Homes, materials, products and local building codes vary. Always follow the instructions that come with your tools and materials, and follow your local codes.

Your safety is your call

DIY work carries real risk, including injury and damage to property. You are responsible for judging whether a job is within your skill, for using protective gear, and for stopping when something looks wrong.

Jobs that involve gas, wiring inside walls, structural changes, asbestos, lead paint or work at height often need a licensed pro or a permit. When a guide says call a pro, we mean it.

Projects for children need an adult watching. Age ranges on our pages are a guide, and you know your child best.

Our content

The words, photos, illustrations, logo and design on DIY Project belong to us or are used with permission. You may read, print and share links to our pages for personal use.

Please don't republish our guides or images, sell them, or copy them in bulk, including by automated scraping, without written permission.

Links and shopping

Some links go to retailers such as Amazon. We may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Our affiliate disclosure explains how.

We don't sell products ourselves. Prices, stock, shipping, returns and warranties are handled by the retailer, and their terms apply to your purchase. Prices we show are estimates and can change.

Other websites

We link to other sites when they're useful. We don't control them and aren't responsible for what they publish or how they handle your data.

No warranties

We work hard to get things right and we fix mistakes when we find them. Even so, the site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, and we can't promise every page is complete, current or right for your situation.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, DIY Project and its team are not liable for any injury, loss or damage that comes from using the site or following anything on it. You use the information at your own risk.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived.

Changes and contact

We may update the site and these terms at any time. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Questions about these terms can go through our contact page.
