    Write the surprises

On the inside of each strip, write something small to do. Hot cocoa, a holiday movie, call Grandma.

  3. Step 3: Number them

    Number them

Write 1 to 24 on the outside of the strips with a marker.

  4. Step 4: Start the chain

    Start the chain

Loop strip 24 into a ring and glue the ends. Slide strip 23 through it and close that one.

  5. Step 5: Keep linking

    Keep linking

Keep going down to 1. The chain gets long fast, so work on the floor.

  6. Step 6: Hang it and tear a link a day
    6

Hang it and tear a link a day

Hang it from a doorway on November 30. Each morning, tear off the lowest link and read it out loud.

Edie's tip

Leave a few links blank and fill them in later. Plans change in December.
