How to make it

  1. Step 1: Fold in half
    1

    Fold in half

Fold a flattened filter in half to make a half circle.

  2. Step 2: Fold again
    2

    Fold again

Fold it in half 1 more time to make a cone. Thin filters cut well even folded.

  3. Step 3: Snip the edges
    3

    Snip the edges

Have your child cut little triangles and half circles out of the folded edges.

  4. Step 4: Snip the tip
    4

    Snip the tip

Cut a tiny bit off the point. That makes the center pattern.

  5. Step 5: Unfold it
    5

    Unfold it

Open it up slowly. That's the fun part.

  6. Step 6: Hang them
    6

    Hang them

Tape them to a window for a winter scene.

Edie's tip

Folded coffee filters are thin enough for small hands to cut through. Folded printer paper is too thick.
