How to make it

Safety

Melted nylon is very hot and sticky, so let it cool before touching.

  1. Step 1: Measure your wrist
    1

    Measure your wrist

Wrap a string around your wrist and add 1 in.

  2. Step 2: Set the core
    2

    Set the core

Fold the cord in half. Thread the loop through 1 buckle half and pull the ends through it.

  3. Step 3: Space the buckle
    3

    Space the buckle

Thread both ends through the other buckle half. Slide it until the gap matches your wrist size.

  4. Step 4: Tie cobra knots
    4

    Tie cobra knots

Cross the left cord over the middle, the right cord over it and under the middle, then up through the left loop. Mirror it on the next knot.

  5. Step 5: Work to the end
    5

    Work to the end

Keep alternating knots, pushing each up tight, until you reach the buckle.

  6. Step 6: Seal the ends
    6

    Seal the ends

Grown-up step for under 14s: trim the ends to 1/4 in and melt them with a lighter. Press flat with the lighter's metal side.

Edie's tip

Alternate left and right starts or the bracelet twists into a spiral.
