How to make it

Safety

Salt dough isn't food and the salt is harmful if a child or pet eats a lot of it, so keep raw and baked pieces out of mouths.

  1. Step 1: Mix the dough

Roll it about 1/2 in thick on parchment paper.

  4. Step 4: Press the hand

Have your child press their hand flat into the dough, then lift straight up.

  5. Step 5: Cut and poke

Let your child paint it. Seal with a thin coat of Mod Podge and tie on the ribbon.

Edie's tip

Write the name and year in the dough with a toothpick before baking. It'll be readable forever.
