How to make it

Safety

Use battery tea lights only, since tissue paper catches fire easily.

  1. Step 1: Tear the tissue
    1

    Tear the tissue

Tear white tissue paper into palm-sized pieces.

  2. Step 2: Brush on glue
    2

    Brush on glue

Paint glue on a patch of the jar.

  3. Step 3: Layer the tissue
    3

    Layer the tissue

Lay tissue over the glue and brush more on top. Wrinkles make it look spookier.

  4. Step 4: Cover the whole jar

    Cover the whole jar

Keep going until the glass is all frosted white. Let it dry 1 hour.

  5. Step 5: Add the face
    5

    Add the face

Cut 2 oval eyes and a round mouth from black paper and glue them on. Or draw them with marker.

  6. Step 6: Light it up

    Light it up

Drop in a battery tea light and turn off the room lights.

Edie's tip

Wrap a rubber band around the jar while you work. It gives your hand something to grip on the slippery glass.
