How to make it

  1. Step 1: Separate the card
    1

    Separate the card

Cut the card along the fold. The picture front becomes the lid, and the back becomes the base.

  2. Step 2: Mark the lines
    2

    Mark the lines

On the back of each piece, draw lines 1 in in from all 4 edges.

  3. Step 3: Score the folds
    3

    Score the folds

Run a butter knife along the lines with the ruler. The card folds crisply this way.

  4. Step 4: Cut the corners
    4

    Cut the corners

Make one cut at each corner from the edge to where the lines cross, on the same side each time.

  5. Step 5: Fold and glue
    5

    Fold and glue

Fold up the sides. Glue each corner flap inside the next side to form a tray.

  6. Step 6: Make the base smaller
    6

    Make the base smaller

Trim an eighth of an inch off each edge of the base before folding so it fits inside the lid.

Edie's tip

Clip the corners with clothespins while the glue sets. It saves your fingers from holding them.
