How to make it

  1. Step 1: Pick the flowers
    1

    Pick the flowers

Choose small, flat blooms on a dry afternoon. Thin petals press best. Thick flowers like roses stay lumpy.

  2. Step 2: Press them in a book
    2

    Press them in a book

Lay the flowers between 2 sheets of paper inside a heavy book. Stack a few more books on top.

  3. Step 3: Wait 1 to 2 weeks

Leave them alone. They're ready when they feel papery and stiff, like tissue paper.

  4. Step 4: Arrange on the strip

    Arrange on the strip

Place 2 or 3 flowers on a cardstock strip. Move them around until you like it. No glue needed.

  5. Step 5: Seal with laminate

    Seal with laminate

Peel the backing off a laminating sheet and lay it over the strip slowly from one end. Smooth it with your palm.

  6. Step 6: Trim and add a tassel

    Trim and add a tassel

Cut around the edge, leaving a small border. Punch a hole at the top and tie on a ribbon.

Edie's tip

Tweezers can be fiddly with stiff fingers. Slide a flower onto a butter knife or a playing card to move it instead.
