How to make it

Safety

Skip lilies if there are cats around, since they're toxic to cats.

Spread the bouquets across a towel in the middle of the table, sorted by type.

Hand each person a few stems to touch and smell. Ask about favorite flowers and gardens.

Cut each stem at a slant so it's a few inches taller than the jar. Helpers can trim for anyone who'd like.

    Share them

Set the jars on dining tables, or give them to a neighbor down the hall.

Edie's tip

Pull off any leaves that would sit under the water. The flowers last days longer.
