How to make it

Safety

Watch for tissue going in the mouth. Wet tissue can clump, so swap in a new piece if they start chewing.

  1. Step 1: Tear the tissue
    1

    Tear the tissue

Tear the tissue into pieces about the size of your toddler's palm. Let them help rip a few. Ripping is half the fun.

  2. Step 2: Water down the glue
    2

    Water down the glue

Mix 2 spoonfuls of glue with 1 spoonful of water in the cup. It brushes on smoother this way.

  3. Step 3: Paint the plate with glue
    3

    Paint the plate with glue

Hand your toddler the wide brush. Let them cover the plate in glue, wet and messy.

  4. Step 4: Press on the tissue
    4

    Press on the tissue

Show them how to pat a piece onto the wet plate. Then let them go. Overlaps look great.

  5. Step 5: Add a stem
    5

    Add a stem

Glue a green paper stem to the top of the plate yourself.

  6. Step 6: Let it dry
    6

    Let it dry

Lay it flat for about 1 hour. The tissue goes shiny and see-through in spots. That's normal.

Edie's tip

Put the plate on a baking sheet. Every stray scrap and drip stays in 1 tray.
