How to make it

Safety

Contact solution contains boric acid, so a grown-up handles it, kids wash hands before and after, and slime stays away from mouths, eyes and kids under 3.

  1. Step 1: Check the bottle
    1

    Check the bottle

Grown-up step: read the contact solution label. It must list boric acid and sodium borate, or the slime won't set.

  2. Step 2: Mix glue and soda
    2

    Mix glue and soda

Stir the glue and baking soda in a bowl. Add a few drops of color.

  3. Step 3: Fold in the foam
    3

    Fold in the foam

Add the shaving cream and fold it in gently until it looks like frosting.

  4. Step 4: Add the activator
    4

    Add the activator

Grown-up step: add the contact solution 1 teaspoon at a time while your kid stirs. Stop once it pulls away from the bowl.

  5. Step 5: Knead it
    5

    Knead it

Pick it up and knead for 2 minutes. Sticky at first is normal. It firms up as you work it.

  6. Step 6: Store it
    6

    Store it

Keep it in a zip bag. Fluffy slime deflates in a few days, so play with it soon.

Edie's tip

Too sticky after kneading? Add a few more drops of solution. Too stiff? You added too much, so start a fresh batch next time with less.
