How to make it

  1. Step 1: Halve the apples
    1

    Halve the apples

Cut one apple top to bottom and one across the middle. The cross cut shows a star.

  2. Step 2: Blot them dry
    2

    Blot them dry

Press the cut sides on a paper towel for 5 minutes. Dry apples print sharper.

  3. Step 3: Protect the bag
    3

    Protect the bag

Slide cardboard inside the tote so paint doesn't soak through.

  4. Step 4: Paint the apple
    4

    Paint the apple

Brush fabric paint onto the cut side.

  5. Step 5: Stamp it down
    5

    Stamp it down

Press the apple onto the bag and hold 3 seconds. Lift straight up.

  6. Step 6: Add leaves and set
    6

    Add leaves and set

Paint little green leaves by each print. Dry 24 hours and heat-set as the paint label says.

Edie's tip

Push a fork into the round back of each apple half. It turns it into a stamp with a handle.
