How to make it

  1. Step 1: Pick a doily
    1

    Pick a doily

Choose a doily and set it on the front of a folded card.

  2. Step 2: Glue it down
    2

    Glue it down

Rub the glue stick on the card, not the doily. Press the doily on top. Lacy paper tears if you glue it directly.

  3. Step 3: Cut a heart
    3

    Cut a heart

Fold a red scrap in half and cut half a heart along the fold. Open it up for a perfect heart.

  4. Step 4: Stack the hearts
    4

    Stack the hearts

Glue the big heart on the doily. Add a smaller pink heart on top.

  5. Step 5: Write a message
    5

    Write a message

Write a short note inside. Grandkids can draw, and you can add the words.

Edie's tip

Tell the grandkids what Valentine's Day looked like when you were in school. Cards turn into stories pretty quickly.
