How to make it

  1. Step 1: Paint the outside
    1

    Paint the outside

Paint the outside of 2 jars with chalk paint. Leave the 3rd clear. Let them dry 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2: Add a second coat
    2

    Add a second coat

Brush on a second coat for solid color. Streaks are fine for a cottage look.

  3. Step 3: Wrap with twine
    3

    Wrap with twine

Dab glue around the neck of the clear jar. Wind twine around it 10 or 12 times.

  4. Step 4: Tie on lace
    4

    Tie on lace

Tie a strip of lace or ribbon around the painted jars in a simple bow.

  5. Step 5: Fill with flowers
    5

    Fill with flowers

Add water and flowers. Group the jars together on a tray.

Edie's tip

Hold the jar by sliding your hand inside it while you paint. It's steadier than gripping the outside.
