How to make it

Safety

Rotary cutters are very sharp, so keep them for grown-ups and always close the blade guard.

  1. Step 1: Stack the fleece

    Stack the fleece

Lay the 2 pieces on top of each other, right sides out. Line up the edges.

  2. Step 2: Cut the corners
    2

    Cut the corners

Set the cardboard square on each corner. Cut the square out through both layers.

  3. Step 3: Cut the fringe
    3

    Cut the fringe

Cut strips 4 in deep and 1 in wide along all 4 sides, through both layers.

  4. Step 4: Tie the first knot

    Tie the first knot

Take a top and bottom strip together. Tie them in a double knot.

  5. Step 5: Work your way around

    Work your way around

Tie every pair the same way. Grandkids can take one side while you take another.

  6. Step 6: Shake it out

    Shake it out

Lay it flat and pull gently on any loose knots.

Edie's tip

Cutting fleece is the hard part for arthritic hands. Ask the store to cut the strips, or use a rotary cutter, which needs much less grip.
